My Hubby
William attended two weekends last year called Wood Badge. It is adult leadership training for those in Boy Scouts. After the weekends you have 18 months to complete 5 projects. Each project must be written out with their objectives then submitted for approval. Once approved, you must carry these projects out.
William completed his in 8 months!!! And last night we attended a outdoor ceremony where he received his beads. I know, you are asking, beads?? Yes, beads, each person that completes the course receives a certificate and wood beads, which are worn with great pride. Not all that begin this finish it; it requires persistence.
We are so proud of him. He continues to seek advanced training to make himself a better leader.
Next up: and this is crazy! Extreme Outdoor Leadership Training. I can't even describe what all he will put himself through. Think rocks, water, wilderness, etc. HAVE MERCY!!!

Blue Sunday
This has been a blah Sunday. Our pastor is sick so we didn't have church. Sad. But, we are glad our pastor is feeling better. Then William got a call from his aunt saying she could not get hold of Williams father after calling repeatedly and that he had been sick yesterday.
William went over and found him in a chair but he said he couldn't remember getting to the chair. He had carpet burns from crawling so he must have falling at some point and crawled to the chair. After much fussing he finally agreed to let the EMS come. (very stubborn man)
The doctors have determined that he has had a heart attack in the last day, so he is being transferred to a larger hospital south of us. Williams aunt lives in that area so she can meet the ambulance there. I am sure we will go down tomorrow.
William and his dad are not exceptionally close. His father has never been one that showed emotion easily or knew how to form bonds. But, I know William cares and he has tried to bridge the gap as an adult. I remember when William started hugging his father years and years ago. His dad didn't know how to react, but now he even initiates the hugs himself. :)
God is good and the relationship is better now. His dad accepted Christ last year and goes to church now.
Life takes turns, things change, circumstances arise, but my God is always the same!!

"My Husband Rocks" Friday
He asks how I am doing almost daily and is aware if my mood has changed. This makes each of us feel special and cared for.

"My Husband Rocks" Friday
My husband rocks because when he doesn't have something he is working on he will come and ask me if there is something he can do for me. That is so sweet and a big blessing.

"My Husband Rocks" Friday
My husband rocks because he is more dedicated to me today than he was 22 years ago when we married. He is the picture of consistency and stability for our family.
And he got our Christmas tree up so we could start the holidays!!!

"My Husband Rocks" Fridays
If you'd like to hear about how the original My Husband Rocks! Friday got started and read other ladies praise their men, head over to Katy Lin's blog, The Great Adventure.
Now for my post.
My husband rocks because even though he has been sick this week he has gone to work on the job and has taken the kids geocaching. He gives of himself to make us happy and comfortable. He Rocks!!

William just completed Wilderness Survival Training for the Scouts and he has the patch to prove it!!! I am proud of him, this is not required but very important when you take boys into the woods away from medical help. He works hard to take advantage of classes available to adult leaders so he can offer more to the boys he leads.

William's World

This is my husband's ministry, the sound board. He has worked in this area for the last 20+ years. He has always done my sound whenever and wherever I sing; and has done it at most of the church's we have served in.
I have discovered that it requires a lot of patience and a calm spirit. Over the years I have learned the board and can run it when he is not available; but my personality is more 'excitable' than his so I get tense if there is a lot to do. I would rather be on the platform singing!
There is so much to this job because the flow of the service hinges on everything in the sound booth going smoothly. Muting mics when someone isn't speaking, making sure batteries are not half dead in all the mics, lighting, music, recording, volume, odd noises coming from the speakers, etc. It is busy from the beginning to the end.
William does it with ease (most days) and provides me a great degree of security as I minister on the platform. It is his gift and he operates in it well.

Never Dull Here

Since we have had a couple of days of 'nothing much happenin' round here, my dear husband decided to mix it up a bit. He mixed it up with a sharp object and cut the top of his hand. And since he doesn't like to 'half do' anything; he did it real good! He told me to butterfly it and he'd be fine. I looked at it, actually looked down into the wound, saw his insides and said, "I don't think so partner".
So off to the ER we went and where we live that could mean a 4 hr. wait. Thankfully they were not busy and 45 minutes later he was the proud owner of 6 stitches and a hospital bill!!

One only needs two things in life: WD-40 to make things go and duct tape to make things stop!!!

Picture of Hubby
Found this picture in our files. We were in St. Augustine at a little restaurant on the water. Of course the guy in the picture is my ever handsome husband, friend and provider. St. Augustine is a beautiful place to visit especially if you love history like we do. Other favorite places of ours are Savannah, Charleston and Williamsburg. We love to find local places to eat as we find that the food is so much better. Take the time before you go to an area to study good local places to try. If you are ever in Asheville, NC, go to Tupelo Honey in the downtown area. It is a locally owned eatery with fabulous food!!
